As one who was a consistent first-user on each one of these platforms, and was on the advisory board of Vidoco and is one of YouTube's first generation of partners (Zennie62 on YouTube since 2006 and YouTube Partner since 2008), I can tell you why each one of these apps has failed and why YouTube lives on and grows: flexibility, or the lack of it. I love Vine, but what I found frustrating was the same thing that bugged me about the other micro-video apps: the video time limit that made them “micro” in the first place. To their credit, both Tout and Vidoco tried what might be thought of as a creative workaround, when they installed provisions allowing you to make longer-than the normal limit videos. In Tout's case, its growth was powered by the headlines created from Shaq using it to announce his retirement. But the celebrity-focused marketing strategy never really caught traction, and its reach to the news community was just a tick behind the point in time that it should have been done - like as part of its original strategy. And then, in Vidoco's case, the video limit length kept creeping up, from 30 seconds, to 45, and then eventually to one minute. That translates to a need for increased server space and speed, and that calls for more money, so when we ran out of it, that was the end. For now. The point is, people don't want to be limited in the time they have to make a video. They just plain don't want to think about it. Too often, someone goes on a rant, only to be stopped by the video time limit. Remember when the famous Olympics hurdler and bobsledder LoLo Jones vlogged about not making enough money to pay the rent? She needed more Vine video time and didn't have it. Video-makers want time flexibility and the chance to connect with other people. Think about that as we move forward.

That person believed I was wrong - I said "Watch. I know what the Raiders want." Here's Adelson: "I negotiated to bring in the Oakland Raiders, an NFL football team from Oakland, because they don't have a stadium there, that I would build a stadium and rent it out to the Oakland Raiders," Adelson said on Wednesday during a travel technology conference in Tel Aviv. Adelson, who succeeded this month in getting legislation passed to enable the construction of the stadium, said his problems now involve negotiations with the Raiders. "They want so much," he said. "So I told my people, 'Tell them I could live with the deal, I could live without the deal. Here's the way it's gonna go down. If they don't want it, bye-bye,'" he said. Residents throughout District 5 want city services to function and they especially want police to shorten its response time and for police to have the resources by which to investigate crimes and bring justice to all concerned. We are not going to have police respond to more than homicides unless we can generate more revenues with which the city can serve its populace. ​ HousingMarket forces are not policy. What city policy can override a homeowner’s free choice to sell a property--the value of which has increased tenfold, and which represents a large percent of their net worth? That is the tyranny of gentrification; the word itself betrays the anti-diversity impact that gentrification often has. The goal for the City Council is to build bridges that maintain Oakland values and benefit both existing residents and newcomers. We need to encourage housing development for every income level: market rate, owned or rented, affordable housing, owned or rented, and low income. We need to look for avenues to incentivize market rate developers to transfer properties to strong performing nonprofit developers that attract sustainable funding. And we also need to look for creative avenues to redevelop our brownfield properties. We need to support infill development that does not concentrate people of only one-income strata. There can be opportunities for everyone to live in all parts of the city. We can encourage owners of smaller apartment buildings, especially those that live in their properties to not only maintain them but stay as owners and keep them affordable. We can work with stronger performing nonprofit developers to buy older apartment buildings not currently under rent control to stabilize the market. We need to encourage single-family residence owners to build secondary units on their properties, making it more viable for families of mixed incomes to co-exist and older residents to stay in their homes. We can encourage new thinking regarding shared housing — modern versions of rooming houses, et al to meet emerging needs. Public SafetyPublic safety fears threaten to undermine Oakland’s economic future. Racial profiling is a societal problem, and police are part of society. Racial profiling by the police is especially critical given the moment to moment potential for lethal tragedy, for residents and for police. The advent of body-mounted police cameras has focused attention on this stark problem. Oakland has been part of the nationwide plague of the death of residents at the hands of police. Today, we have a department without a chief, under consent decree for “The Riders, ” an adjudicated excess of 13 years ago, and now a sex scandal engulfing not just OPD but nearby jurisdictions. The historic Riders’ Case scandal, the resulting consent decree, the huge cost of the consent decree, the sex scandal, racial profiling and the administrative uncertainty of OPD must all be confronted as a whole. It is a daunting array of moving parts, but lines of communication must be maintained – between residents, public safety officials, and city officials. All three of these groups have both a vital interest and also a vital role in pushing toward solutions. The police commission--if it passes--will not be enough. If it passes, it must be effectively executed and with dispatch, but by itself, it is not a comprehensive solution. Mark Davis, Oakland Raiders Las Vegas Stadium vs NFL Compliance Plan Of 2015 When Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis stands with Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson, and signs the SB1 Bill that has within it the much-sought-after $750 million subsidy, Mr. Davis will have officially attached himself to Adelson as a business partner. It's a good idea Davis read the NFL Compliance Plan of 2015. The plan, established by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, has a detailed set of policies regarding such matters as corruption, and business opportunities. It's the corruption area Davis will find applies to Las Vegas Sands (particularly in the matter of the persistent money-laundering claims that dog him and his organization) and that's because Adelson's corporation seeks to do business with the NFL, and he has stated his interest in becoming an owner of the Oakland Raiders. This is written under E - Anti-Corruption: “It is a violation of NFL policy to offer bribes and other improper advantages in connection with the activities of the NFL. The NFL is committed to complying with anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, including the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the United Kingdom Bribery Act. Bribery, kickbacks, and other improper inducements to government officials, business partners, vendors, and suppliers are prohibited. No employee, agent, or representative worldwide may offer, promise, pay, or authorize any financial or other advantage or anything else of value to any person or organization with the intent to exert improper influence over the recipient, induce the recipient to violate his or her duties, or secure an improper advantage for the NFL or its member clubs. All employees are further prohibited from demanding, agreeing to receive, or accepting a bribe, kickback, or any other improper financial or other advantage.” It's ultimately the decision of NFL Legal as to how to evaluate the actions of Las Vegas Sands, and how this impacts the Oakland Raiders, but it was widely reported that lobbyists under the LV Sands payroll acted, in some cases, like bullies, and overall what they gave Nevada Senators and Assemblypeople can't be reported, even if it was a conflict of interest – they signed a legal provision protecting them from that under Nevada Law. But what happens in Vegas will stay in Vegas, and is not NFL Policy. The Compliance Plan has other areas that apply to the Raiders / Las Vegas Sands relationships. Altogether, this is in addition to the need for the Raiders to obtain a two-thirds vote of the NFL Ownership. And then, there's the matter of the relocation bylaws and whether or not Las Vegas actually fits as a real relocation candidate. The consideration of whether there is what the policy calls a “compelling” reason to move to Las Vegas will be front and center – and the answer is no. The bylaws also call for a good relationship with the home community, and there are many examples where the Raiders have not worked to have this with Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. And now that Adelson, a Donald Trump-supporter, is involved, Trump's many negative associations with women also come into consideration. Overall, this could degenerate into something that embarrasses the NFL – a clear violation of the NFL Compliance Plan. The Raiders can and are, behind the scenes, working on staying in Oakland. What will happen is the NFL Compliance Plan will, behind the scenes, play a powerful roll in Mark Davis playing ball in Oakland and not Las Vegas. Stay tuned. See: http://ift.tt/1gz1UEJ
