NFL's Roger Goodell Back In Lott Group Oakland Raiders New Stadium Negotiations #SB51 Video
NFL's Roger Goodell Back In Lott Group Oakland Raiders New Stadium Negotiations #SB51 Roger Goodell, The NFL Commissioner, is back involved in negotiations with The Lott Group / Fortress Investments and on building a new stadium for the Oakland Raiders in Oakland. As Goodell is an on-the-record advocate of keeping the Raiders in Oakland, the news that he's back and directly involved in talks with Ronnie Lott is big news. Previously, Eric Grubman, NFL Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, and the acknowledged league new stadium point person, had taken the lead in talks with Mr. Lott and his people. On December 13th, and after a meeting with The Lott Group, Mr. Grubman compared the then-just-released “term sheet” to the 2015 new stadium deal structure fashioned by Floyd Kephart. That deal proposal was so unloved by the City of Oakland, the NFL, and the Raiders, that Mr. Kephart's full name has become something of a pejorative in the history of the Raiders quest for a new stadium in Oakland. After that bombshell, a number of calls and meetings have taken place, but I am told that after the revelation that Goldman Sachs is out of the Las Vegas Oakland Raiders deal, joining Sheldon Adelson, Goodell is reportedly seeking to help move the Oakland situation along on a positive track. I am also told that The Lott Group will present a new, and more detailed, term sheet. Stay tuned.
